| | | | Description: | | Acepromazine is a neuroleptic belonging to the phenothiazines with a sedative action. The effect is set in within 5 10 minutes after intravenous injection and within 15-20 minutes after intramuscular injection and is maintained for 6 to 12 hours. | | | | Indications: | | All situations where sedation is needed, for instance during transport, with several forms of stress, small operations and as a pre anaesthetic with larger operations. | | | | Contra indications: | Administration to animals with heart or respiratory diseases.
Administration together with local anaesthetics (like procaine) or organo-phosphates (like insecticides) because acepromazine potentates toxicity of these compounds.
Hypothermia or hypertension.
| | | | Side effects: | After high doses respiratory disorders, hypertensy and tachydardy can occur.
Penis relaxation in male animals.
